Our Mission in Puducherry was organised in partnership with the Muthoot Pappachan Foundation (CSR arm of Muthoot Fincorp Ltd.). This was between 24th and 27th February 2019 at New Medical Centre, Puducherry. It delivered free cleft lip and cleft palate surgeries to the children and young adults of Puducherry and Tamil Nadu. This was the fourth time New Medical Centre in Puducherry partnered with us. The mission was to help cleft afflicted children and young adults of the region.
We conducted forty-eight cleft rectification surgeries during the four-day comprehensive surgical cleft camp (mission). The Puducherry mission team included plastic surgeons, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, anesthesiologists, paediatrists, dentists, speech and language specialists, pathologists and nurses. They participated from across the globe.
We organised cleft awareness campaigns in Puducherry and Tamil Nadu’s districts through Muthoot Fincorp branches. The mission identified and screened the cleft patients of Puducherry. They received free transportation, food, accommodation, medical examination, surgery and medicines. After the surgeries, the patients also received free post-operative care.
As a build-up to the Mission in Puducherry, we had organised a press-meet on 8th February in Puducherry. It turned out to be a very successful one. Leading print and electronic media channels from the Puducherry region covered our press-meet.
