Mission Smile organised its 98th mission in India from 23-27 Sept’18 at Kolkata Comprehensive Cleft Care Centre. The venue was Flemming Hospital, Topsia, Kolkata. Muthoot Pappachan Foundation partnered with us in this mission. This was also our 22nd medical mission organised in collaboration with Muthoot Pappachan Group and 14th Mission in Kolkata.
Total 40 medical & non-medical volunteers from Russia, China, Germany, the United Kingdom, and India joined the mission. The team had plastic surgeons, maxillofacial surgeons, anesthesiologists, paediatricians, speech therapists, child life care specialists and nurses.
In this Mission, we screened 130 children and young adults. Fifty-seven of them received free cleft surgeries in three working days. We received 54 (96%) post-op turn-ups during one-week follow up.
We thank and congratulate everyone involved in Kolkata Mission for the successful outcome! With every mission, we’re inching closer to our objective of making India cleft-free.
