Our recruitment coordinator Vipul Christian from Vadodara came to know about an eleven-month-old child named Vivek. This was when he was educating ASHA workers (Accredited Social Health Activists) on cleft deformities the available treatment. The child from a nearby village was born with cleft lip and palate deformities. ASHA workers informed him that a God-man advised the little boy’s parents that their son’s cleft lip defect will seal by itself. Only they were advised to offer regular prayer and offerings to him.
Vipul went to the small village where Vivek lived and met his parents without waiting further. He counselled and convinced them that the God-man was an imposter and brought the family to Mission Smile Outreach Centre at Isha Hospital in Vadodara.
Soon, little Vivek received his cleft lip surgery and was discharged in two days. Vivek’s healing was fast, and his parents were astounded by the recovery! Now they are eagerly waiting for his cleft palate surgery, after which their little boy will be able to speak without difficulty.
We will be closely following little Vivek’s transformation journey from cleft to smile.
