50,000 Smiles and Counting
30th July, 2025 — A momentous day for Mission Smile.
At our Berhampur Centre in Odisha, we performed the surgery that marked a historic milestone: 50,000 cleft surgeries completed nationwide.
This is more than a number — it represents 50,000 stories of hope, 50,000 families transformed, and 50,000 reasons to keep going.
The 50,000th smile belongs to Kartik Biswal, a brave little child from Ganjam district, Odisha, whose journey adds yet another inspiring chapter to our mission.
We owe this achievement first and foremost to the visionary leadership and steadfast guidance of our Board of Trustees and Medical Council, who have steered Mission Smile with purpose and passion.
A special note of gratitude to Mr. Ranjit Barthakur for his vision, leadership, and unwavering commitment to the cause of cleft care in India — and to the entire Mission Smile team, whose tireless dedication powers our mission every single day.
We remain deeply grateful for the continuous support and encouragement from the Chief Minister, National Health Mission (NHM), and the Health Department of Assam for the unique Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model under which we work.
A heartfelt salute to our medical volunteers, past and present, whose compassion, skill, and commitment bring these smiles to life — often beyond the call of duty.
And to our generous donors and cherished partners — thank you for believing in our mission and standing beside us as we continue to build a future where every child can smile with confidence.
Here’s to every smile we’ve restored — and to the thousands more still to come.
